Renowned filmmaker Vivek Agnihotri has taken to Twitter to debunk a fake news report claiming that he had won a box office clash against actor Prabhas. The report falsely quoted Vivek as saying that his movie, “The Kashmir Files,” emerged as a bigger box office success than Prabhas’s “Radhe Shyam” in March last year. Vivek, known for being active on social media, vehemently dismissed these claims and clarified the situation.
In a recent tweet, Vivek shared the misleading report and expressed his displeasure over the misinformation. He stated that he holds immense respect for Prabhas, a megastar known for his spectacular performances in high-budget films. In contrast, Vivek focuses on making non-starter, small-budget films with a people-centric approach. He emphasized that there is no basis for comparison between their respective works and requested to be spared from such false narratives.
Who is spreading such fake news attributing fake quotes to me? I respect Prabhas who is a mega mega star doing mega mega budget films.
We make non-starter, small budget, people’s films. There is no comparison between us.
Pl spare me. https://t.co/IoHqdZGXCl

It’s worth noting that Vivek had earlier criticized Prabhas’s movie “Adipurush,” which is based on the Ramayana, stating that the audience should not be taken for granted by accepting just anyone as a God.
“The Kashmir Files,” directed by Vivek Agnihotri, was a major box-office success in 2022. The film, written and produced by Vivek himself in association with Zee Studios, depicts the tragic exodus of Kashmiri Hindus from the Kashmir Valley during the 1990s. With a stellar cast including Anupam Kher, Darshan Kumar, Mithun Chakraborty, and Pallavi Joshi, the film garnered both critical acclaim and controversy. Despite the challenges, it emerged as a sleeper hit and became the first Hindi film to cross the ₹ 250-crore mark at the domestic box office since the outbreak of the Covid-19 pandemic.
On the other hand, “Radhe Shyam,” directed by Radha Krishna Kumar, presented a multilingual love story set in 1970s Europe, with Prabhas essaying the role of a palmist who falls in love with Pooja Hedge’s character. However, the film received poor reviews and underperformed at the box office.
Currently, Vivek Agnihotri is gearing up for the release of his upcoming film, “The Vaccine War,” featuring Nana Patekar, Anupam Kher, Raima Sen, and Sapthami Gowda. Produced by Pallavi Joshi, “The Vaccine War” is set to hit theatres in 11 languages on Dussehra 2023. The film revolves around Indian bio-scientists and their groundbreaking indigenous vaccines.
As Vivek Agnihotri continues to create thought-provoking cinema, fans eagerly await the release of “The Vaccine War” to witness yet another compelling narrative from the visionary director.
