Thalapathy Vijay‘s much-anticipated crime-action-thriller, “Leo,” is poised to set a new milestone in the actor’s cinematic journey, and fans have every reason to celebrate. As advance booking generates immense excitement, there’s good news for Thalapathy Vijay enthusiasts as the Tamil Nadu government has given the green light for special early morning shows for the film.
Special morning shows had been suspended in Tamil Nadu since January 2023 following a tragic incident where a fan fell from a lorry and lost his life outside a Chennai theatre. The state government’s decision to cancel these shows was a precautionary measure to ensure the safety of fans.
However, the Tamil Nadu government has now approved special shows for “Leo” from October 19, 2023, to October 20, 2023. In its official letter, the state government emphasized the need for “adequate arrangements with the cooperation and security of the police department to avoid overcrowding in theatres and to ensure the health and safety of the audience.”
The absence of morning shows in Tamil Nadu had raised concerns in the film industry as it was estimated that not allowing these shows might affect a movie’s business by at least 25%. According to an insider trade source, movies like Rajinikanth’s “Annatthe,” which collected Rs 30 crore, and Vijay’s “Beast,” which garnered Rs 32 crore, achieved these numbers despite the tickets being sold at higher rates. Films without early morning shows were at a disadvantage in terms of revenue.

While the Tamil Nadu government has granted permission for special screenings, it has not yet clarified whether these shows will include early morning slots at 4 AM, 5 AM, or 7 AM. Nevertheless, “Leo” is expected to reap the benefits of these special screenings, further fueling its prospects as the next blockbuster.
