Suriya Set to Make Hindi Debut in Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra’s Epic Film ‘Karna’

Suriya, the acclaimed actor of Tamil Cinema, is set to make his highly anticipated Hindi debut in an epic film titled ‘Karna’ directed by Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra. Suriya is reportedly thrilled to be a part of the two-part epic and will portray the complex character of Karna, set in the times of Mahabharata.

According to a source close to the development, “Karna is Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra’s dream project, and he has been working on the subject for a while now. The filmmaker, along with his producer partners, believes that the film has the potential to be a game-changer in India, as no one has attempted a film on such a complex protagonist to date. The character traits warranted a great actor who can seamlessly transition from one zone to the other, and who better than Suriya to do the same.”

The film is expected to go on floors in 2024, following Suriya’s completion of shooting for his ongoing project ‘Kanguva’ and his next film with Sudha Kongara. ‘Karna’ is set to be a grand Pan-India spectacle with a release in multiple languages. The team is keen on bringing actors from different industries on board, aiming for a diverse and inclusive cast. Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra has a rough blueprint of his vision for the film, and the focus now is on executing it to perfection.

The source further added, “Suriya believes that ‘Karna’ is the right subject for him to make a debut in Hindi. He is excited about the opportunity and is ready to take on the challenge of portraying one of the most complex characters of his career.”

With regional barriers breaking down, several South Indian actors are collaborating closely with Hindi filmmakers on Pan-India projects. Alongside Suriya’s Hindi debut, NTR Jr is set to make his mark in Hindi cinema with ‘War 2’ alongside Hrithik Roshan, while Allu Arjun is in talks for ‘The Immortal Ashwatthama’ with Aditya Dhar. Furthermore, Yash is also reportedly in conversation with Nitesh Tiwari for the role of Raavan in ‘Ramayana.’

Fans and cinephiles eagerly await the release of ‘Karna’ and look forward to witnessing Suriya’s remarkable performance in his first Hindi film. Stay tuned to Pinkvilla for more updates on Suriya’s upcoming projects.
