The dynamic duo of Tamil cinema, Suriya and Karthi, have left an indelible mark with their stellar performances and notable contributions to the industry. Despite being celebrated actors and real-life brothers, fans have long awaited the moment when the two would share the screen in a movie. In a recent revelation, Karthi sheds light on the reasons behind the delay in their on-screen collaboration.
During a candid conversation with director Gautham Vasudev Menon on the ‘Uraiyaadal and Stuff…’ interview, Karthi opened up about his deep bond with his supremely talented brother, Suriya. The Kaithi actor disclosed that the initial hesitation stemmed from a sense of fear about sharing the screen with his elder brother, a National Award-winning actor. However, both Suriya and Karthi eventually expressed their desire to work together, aiming to create memorable moments on set.
Despite this enthusiasm, the brothers faced a roadblock in the form of a suitable script that would excite both of them equally. Karthi emphasized their selectiveness as actors, stating, “Both Anna and I are picky actors.” The key factor hindering their collaboration is the quest for a script that not only satisfies their acting sensibilities but also allows for an organic connection between their characters.
Karthi revealed that while they stumbled upon an exciting idea a few years back, it unfortunately never materialized into a full-fledged project. The brothers remain patient, waiting for the perfect opportunity that aligns with their artistic visions.
On the professional front, Suriya recently wrapped up shooting for “Kanguva,” a period action drama directed by Siva. Additionally, he is set to collaborate with Sudha Kongara for an upcoming project tentatively titled “Suriya 43” and is expected to join forces with Lokesh Kanagaraj for a standalone Rolex movie.
Karthi, on the other hand, is gearing up to reprise his role as Dilli in the highly anticipated sequel to “Kaithi,” aptly titled “Kaithi 2.” He is also set to join forces with acclaimed director Nalan Kumarasamy for his upcoming untitled 26th movie, adding to the excitement of his diverse filmography.
As fans eagerly await the day the talented brothers grace the screen together, the anticipation for a script that meets their discerning tastes continues. Stay tuned for more updates on the much-anticipated on-screen collaboration between Suriya and Karthi.
