Suma Kanakala, esteemed anchor and actress, established the charitable organization, Festivals For Joy (FFJ), in 2021 with an ardent commitment to fostering community well-being. In the spirit of Dasara, FFJ has dedicated its efforts to supporting women from the film industry who faced hardships during the challenging times of the Covid-19 pandemic. By extending opportunities for employment and addressing their essential needs like food supplies, FFJ, in collaboration with the NGO Prajwala, has been a beacon of hope for these women.

As Festivals For Joy commemorates its second anniversary, it remains steadfast in its mission to infuse festivals with purpose, driving positive outcomes for society. To kickstart the New Year, Suma Kanakala has unveiled FFJ’s new initiative, marking a significant collaboration with the Telugu Film Journalists’ Association (TFJA) and the North America Telugu Society (NATS).

The recent partnership between FFJ and NATS aims to fulfill a long-standing aspiration – providing insurance facilities for underprivileged journalists. Suma Kanakala joyously announced that NATS will be contributing Rs 5 lakh to the TFJA insurance fund, ensuring accident and health insurance coverage for TFJA members and their families.

Expressing her gratitude to NATS for their involvement in supporting film journalists and their families, Suma shared her motivation behind this initiative. She highlighted the difficulties faced by journalist friends, stressing her concern for their families, which constantly occupies her thoughts. With TFJA boasting over 400 members, including families, Suma underscored the importance of this insurance initiative for their well-being.

TFJA revealed its three-year effort in devising various insurance plans and providing insurance facilities to its members, emphasizing their commitment to members’ welfare.

Madan Pamulapati, NATS Vice President, affirmed NATS’ commitment to service programs in the Telugu states, including contributions to constructing school buildings, Anganwadi centers, old age homes, and water purifiers. He thanked Suma Kanakala for integrating NATS into this noble endeavor alongside TFJA and FFJ.
