In a heartwarming revelation, Suhana Khan, the 23-year-old actor set to make her film debut in Zoya Akhtar’s “The Archies,” expressed that her parents, Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan and renowned producer-interior designer Gauri Khan, are her “biggest source of guidance.” Speaking at the India Today Conclave’s session titled ‘New Kids on the Block: Meet the Gen Z of Bollywood aka The Archies Gang,’ Suhana shared insights into her journey.
“My biggest source of guidance is my parents and actually, my entire family. I feel like we all chip in and help each other out… I ask Mom ‘Was that okay? Is my hair okay? Is my outfit okay?'” Suhana said.
“The Archies,” directed by Zoya Akhtar, is an Indian live-action musical movie based on the popular American comics of the same name. This highly anticipated film also marks the acting debut of late star Sridevi and film producer Boney Kapoor’s daughter Khushi Kapoor (Betty) and megastar Amitabh Bachchan’s grandson Agastya Nanda (Archie).
In the film, Suhana takes on the role of Veronica, a character she describes as having a magnetic personality. “She is unabashedly herself, and she knows her worth. That’s something I’m learning from her,” she added.
“The Archies” is set in the 1960s and explores themes of friendship, freedom, love, heartbreak, and rebellion through the lives of iconic characters like Archie, Betty, Veronica, Jughead, Reggie, Ethel, and Dilton. The story unfolds in the fictional hilly town of Riverdale.
Suhana spoke about her experience on set and the support she received. “I guess knowing and realizing that I felt extremely nervous, and at the same time, incredibly responsible. Zoya made me feel comfortable on my first day, and she did this for everyone. She just held her hand through it all. And she made Riverdale feel like home from the very first day,” she added.
Agastya Nanda, who plays Archie in the film, praised the team’s camaraderie, saying, “These guys over here have become my best friends. And we hang out a bit too much. It’s been a great experience.”
Khushi Kapoor highlighted the bonding that occurred among the cast during the film’s preparation and shooting. “We were prepping every day together. We were kind of forced to spend so much time together, and going through the same experience made us bond so much. Towards the end of the shoot, we were moving in a small herd everywhere together,” she said.
When asked about the best advice she received, Khushi shared that it was to “just have fun.”
“The Archies” boasts a talented ensemble cast that includes Mihir Ahuja, Dot, Yuvraj Menda, Vedang Raina, and more. Each cast member plays a vital role in bringing this beloved comic series to life on the big screen.
As the anticipation builds, “The Archies” is set to stream on Netflix on December 7, promising to be an exciting addition to Bollywood’s cinematic offerings.
