Salman Khan‘s latest Eid release, Kisi Ka Bhai Kisi Ki Jaan, co-starring Pooja Hegde and Venkatesh Daggubati, has had a decent first weekend at the box office, collecting Rs 62.50 crores nett in India. The film had a good hold on Monday with Rs 9.50 crores, but the numbers on Tuesday dipped by almost 35% due to the Eid effect wearing off. As of now, the film stands at a total of Rs 78 crores nett in India after 5 days of release.
Interestingly, the film’s performance is highly contrasting where multiplexes are doing low numbers, while non-national chains and single screens are doing good to very good business, at least in their first five days. The ratio of collections from national chains to non-national chains/single screens is significantly higher for this film than for others of similar scale.
The overseas collections of Kisi Ka Bhai Kisi Ki Jaan stand at around 4.5 million dollars after 5 days, with Gulf leading the contribution and North America coming in second. The film may be looking at a lifetime total of around 6-6.5 million dollars based on the trend.
Kisi Ka Bhai Kisi Ki Jaan is directed by Farhad Samji and produced by Salman Khan Films. The film can’t afford similar drops on Wednesday and Thursday and needs some sort of consolidation to maintain its momentum. It is also notable that there is no significant competition in the Hindi belts in the weeks to come, which may work in favour of the film.
