After the tremendous success of SS Rajamouli’s epic historical drama “RRR” in March 2022, fans were elated to learn about the announcement of its sequel. The film, starring Ram Charan and Jr NTR in the lead roles, not only impressed audiences and ruled the box office but also made history at the Oscars. Now, there’s exciting news for fans as it has been revealed that “RRR 2” will take the story to the continent of Africa.
In a recent interview with Bollywood Hungama, Vijayendra Prasad, the father of Rajamouli and the writer of “RRR,” disclosed that the sequel’s story will continue in Africa. He shared, “After the release of RRR, I shared an idea of the sequel where the story continues with Sitarama Raju (Ram Charan) and Komaram Bheem (NTR Jr) set in Africa.” Prasad further stated that Rajamouli liked the idea and encouraged him to develop it into a full-fledged script.
However, Prasad also clarified that Rajamouli is currently busy with his next project, which stars Mahesh Babu, and he will only begin working on “RRR 2” once he finishes this film. He said, “Knowing my son’s temperament, he will not pay any attention to the sequel idea till the movie with Mahesh is finished. After that, if he likes my script and if both the heroes like the script and if they have the time…”
Back in November of the previous year, SS Rajamouli had confirmed the development of “RRR 2” and mentioned that his father was working on the story for the sequel. This confirmation had ignited curiosity and anticipation among fans about the continuation of the captivating saga.
“RRR” is a fictional tale based on the lives of Indian revolutionaries – Alluri Sitarama Raju portrayed by Ram Charan and Komaram Bheem played by Jr NTR. The film is set in the 1920s, a time when India was under British colonial rule. Alongside the powerhouse performances of the lead actors, “RRR” also featured Alia Bhatt and Ajay Devgn in pivotal roles. The movie became a massive success, earning close to Rs 1200 crore worldwide at the box office.
While fans eagerly await the release of “RRR 2” and the continuation of the enthralling narrative set in Africa, Rajamouli’s ongoing commitment to his current project with Mahesh Babu is a testament to his dedication to delivering cinematic excellence. As the script for “RRR 2” unfolds and the anticipation grows, cinephiles can look forward to another exhilarating chapter in Rajamouli’s cinematic universe.
