Bollywood actor Ranbir Kapoor has once again shared his views on the Hindi film industry, highlighting the confusion and Western influence that he believes has plagued the industry in the last two decades. During a recent virtual chat with fans, Ranbir expressed his thoughts on the industry’s shortcomings, emphasizing the need for a better understanding of the audience and more opportunities for new talent.
When asked about what he thinks is lacking in the Hindi film industry, Ranbir responded, “I think what’s lacking in the Hindi film industry is knowing your audience. I think somewhere in the last 10, or 15, or 20 years, the Hindi film industry has been quite confused and influenced by Western culture, by Western films, by remakes.”
The actor further expressed his concern about the limited opportunities given to new talents, including directors and creative minds. He stressed the importance of embracing fresh perspectives to bring about change and tell new stories. Ranbir stated, “There are very few actors and actresses, and they are not giving new people an opportunity, like new directors, new minds. I think it’s very important actually to give them (an opportunity) because that’s when the change happens. That’s when new minds come and new stories are being told, so I hope that happens.”
On the professional front, Ranbir Kapoor was last seen in the successful film “Tu Jhoothi Main Makkaar” opposite Shraddha Kapoor. Directed by Luv Ranjan, the movie garnered both critical acclaim and commercial success, grossing nearly Rs 150 crore at the domestic box office. Up next, Ranbir will be starring in Sandeep Reddy Vanga’s “Animal,” alongside Anil Kapoor, Rashmika Mandanna, and Bobby Deol.
In his personal life, Ranbir Kapoor tied the knot with long-time girlfriend and actress Alia Bhatt last year. The couple also welcomed their baby girl, named Raha.
