Ramya Krishnan, a revered actress in the South Indian film industry, has reunited with Rajinikanth in the recently released movie “Jailer,” marking their collaboration after the blockbuster “Padayappa” in 1999. However, her journey to stardom was not without challenges. In an interview with Galatta, Ramya Krishnan opened up about her struggles and the reason behind her shift from the Tamil to the Telugu film industry during the early stages of her career.

Recalling her early days, Ramya Krishnan revealed that she initially struggled to find success in her acting career. Her Tamil films were not performing well at the box office, prompting her to explore opportunities in the Telugu film industry. She admitted, “I did not become successful in my acting career for a long time after my debut. My films in Tamil were not doing well initially, so I went to Telugu. Even though I had a hit with ‘Muthal Vasantham,’ it did not benefit my career. I wasn’t a good performer back then. My mother saw a movie of mine later on and asked how did I survive for so long.”

However, her fortunes changed with K. Viswanath’s “Sutradharulu,” released in 1989, which won the National Film Award for Best Feature Film in Telugu. This marked a turning point in her career, leading to her emergence as a prominent actress in Tollywood alongside other celebrated South Indian actresses.

Ramya Krishnan’s latest venture, “Jailer,” has garnered significant attention due to her reunion with Rajinikanth. The film portrays them as a married couple, rekindling the excitement among fans who fondly remember their dynamic pairing in “Padayappa.” “Jailer” has been well-received by audiences, with Rajinikanth’s return to the big screen after two years, Mohanlal’s cameo appearance, Nelson Dilipkumar’s direction, and other elements contributing to its positive reception.

The star-studded cast of “Jailer” includes Rajinikanth, Jackie Shroff, Shiva Rajkumar, Sunil, Ramya Krishnan, Vinayakan, Mirnaa Menon, Tamannaah Bhatia, and Vasanth Ravi. The film’s music, composed by Anirudh Ravichander, has also left a lasting impact. As “Jailer” continues to captivate audiences, Ramya Krishnan’s journey from struggles to stardom remains an inspiration for aspiring actors in the industry.
