Filmmaker Rakesh Roshan has recently expressed his concerns about going on floors with the highly anticipated film, Krrish 4. Speaking in a recent interview with India Today, Rakesh shared that the audience’s reluctance to return to theatres has led him to postpone the start of the shoot. Krrish 4, the fourth instalment of Hrithik Roshan’s hit superhero franchise, has been eagerly awaited by fans for almost a decade.
The Krrish franchise began with the blockbuster film “Koi Mil Gaya” in 2003, followed by “Krrish” in 2006, and “Krrish 3” in 2013. Earlier this year, Hrithik Roshan confirmed that Krrish 4 is definitely in the pipeline and will happen soon. However, Rakesh Roshan decided to wait for another year before beginning the shooting process.
In the interview, Rakesh expressed concerns about maintaining the visual grandeur that fans have come to expect from the Krrish series. He noted the influence of Hollywood superhero films that boast massive budgets of hundreds of millions of dollars, while Krrish operates on a smaller budget of around ₹200-300 crore in comparison.
He emphasized the need to strike a balance between impressive action sequences and the quality of visual effects (VFX). While he could reduce the number of action sequences, Rakesh insisted that the remaining ones must meet the high standard expected by the audience. Additionally, the filmmaker stated that they are closely assessing the budget and production costs to ensure smooth production.
The current situation in the film industry, where movies are facing challenges at the box office due to the pandemic, has led to a cautious approach. Rakesh Roshan explained that while they are ready to take the step forward with Krrish 4, they are not immediately proceeding with the shoot due to the uncertain box office collections and production costs.
Hrithik Roshan, in a previous interview in January 2023, also mentioned that Krrish 4 is on track but faced a small technical challenge that they were hoping to resolve by the end of the year.
Initially announced in 2018 with a planned release date of Christmas 2020, Krrish 4 has experienced delays along the way. The film revolves around Krishna, the son of Rohit, the protagonist of “Koi Mil Gaya,” who inherits his father’s superhuman abilities. It follows Krishna’s adventures as he uses his powers to save the world from various threats.
As fans eagerly await the return of their beloved superhero in Krrish 4, Rakesh Roshan and the team are committed to delivering an enthralling cinematic experience that lives up to the franchise’s legacy while navigating the current challenges in the film industry.
