Global icon Priyanka Chopra, known for her remarkable performances in Bollywood films, had initially shown no interest in pursuing a career in the film industry after winning the Miss World title. In a recent interview with The Habit Coach, Priyanka’s mother, Dr. Madhu Chopra, revealed that her daughter had different aspirations during her early years and wanted to focus on her studies.
Dr. Madhu disclosed that although Priyanka took a gap year to participate in the Miss World pageant, she had no plans of entering showbiz at that time. It was the encouragement and persuasion from her parents that eventually led Priyanka to consider her first film project.
Recalling how Priyanka was introduced to the world of cinema, Dr. Madhu shared, “When she came to Mumbai, it was obvious that film offers started coming in. But she was completely against films. She said, ‘No, I don’t want to do all this. I want to study.'” However, her parents convinced her by emphasizing that such opportunities are rare and suggested she give it a try for two months, assuring her that she could always return to her studies if she didn’t enjoy it.
Dr. Madhu further revealed that when Priyanka signed her first contract, it was marked with teardrop stains, symbolizing her initial reluctance. She agreed to do it solely because her mother wanted her to. However, once she faced the camera, something changed. “But then she went in front of the camera, and it shifted. She loved it and then she decided that she wants to continue,” added Dr. Madhu.
Interestingly, it was during one of Priyanka’s first public appearances after winning the Miss World title that her parents realized she was destined for an unconventional path. Dr. Madhu recalled a press conference in Delhi where Priyanka confidently answered challenging questions from the world media. Her resilience and composure at that moment indicated her potential for a successful career in the film industry.
In 2002, Priyanka made her debut in the Tamil film “Thamizhan” and subsequently ventured into Hindi cinema in 2003 with “Hero: The Love Story of a Spy.”
Priyanka Chopra’s journey from a reluctant newcomer to a global superstar is a testament to her talent, determination, and ability to captivate audiences worldwide. As she continues to make her mark in the entertainment industry, fans eagerly anticipate her upcoming projects and applaud her for embracing a path that was initially uncharted for her.
