The highly awaited cinematic extravaganza, Salaar, directed by Prashant Neel, stormed into the global arena with an unprecedented opening, setting new benchmarks in the realm of Indian cinema. The customary premiere shows held in markets west of India on Thursday witnessed Salaar making history with staggering box office collections.
Surpassing expectations, the film raked in a monumental USD 3.20 million from Thursday previews alone, marking the third-highest preview collections behind the formidable RRR and Baahubali 2, which both exceeded USD 4 million in their previews.
In North America, Salaar made an indelible mark, amassing an impressive USD 2.50 million across 750 plus locations during its premiere. This remarkable feat secured the second-highest premiere for an Indian film in the region, surging past the record set by Baahubali 2 in 2017, trailing only behind the staggering USD 3.50 million garnered by RRR during its premiere last year. The film’s momentum continued to surge, with Friday pre-sales soaring above half a million dollars, hinting at an opening day gross exceeding USD 3.50 million and weekend projections soaring to USD 5.50 million.
Beyond borders, Salaar grossed GBP 165K in the United Kingdom, trailing only behind RRR among Telugu films in this territory. Meanwhile, the Middle East also witnessed a substantial turnout, contributing an estimated USD 400K to the film’s global debut.
Expanding its reach further, the film’s release in Eastern markets of Asia and Oceania commenced with a resounding start, adding to the momentum of its global success. The overseas opening day, including previews, is poised to touch an impressive USD 5.50 million, projecting a worldwide first-day number crossing the monumental Rs. 140 crore mark, with prospects of even surpassing Rs. 150 crore.
Salaar’s meteoric global debut stands as a testament to its captivating narrative and Prashant Neel’s directorial prowess, rewriting box office records and heralding a new era in Indian cinema’s global domination.
