The highly anticipated film “Adipurush,” featuring Prabhas, Kriti Sanon, and Saif Ali Khan, has been met with mixed responses from the audience following its worldwide release on June 16. While Prabhas’ portrayal of Raghav has garnered praise from fans, it is revealed that convincing him to take on the role was no easy feat for director Om Raut. In a recent interview, Raut shared insights into the process of persuading Prabhas to join the project, highlighting the challenges faced during the pandemic.
During a conversation with India Today, Om Raut candidly shared the initial difficulty in convincing Prabhas to play the role of Raghav in “Adipurush.” Raut revealed that the conversation took place over the phone amidst the pandemic-induced lockdown. Recounting their interaction, Raut said, “He asked me what is it that you want me to play? So I said, are you serious? I mean, I want you to play Prabhu Shri Ram. I want you to play the character of Raghav. He said, are you sure? I said, yes. Then he was like how will this happen? It was impossible to narrate the film on a Zoom call to such a big star.”
To overcome this hurdle, Raut arranged a special trip from Mumbai to Hyderabad for a face-to-face narration. Finding a pilot willing to fly him to Hyderabad and back on the same day, Raut presented the script to Prabhas in person. The director expressed his gratitude for Prabhas’ unwavering support and trust in his vision, stating, “He was very excited, and he’s always a person who’s backed me and believed in the direction that I wanted to go in. He has always been there, and by the grace of God, I think he will be there even in the future.”
“Adipurush” is an adaptation of the epic mythological story of Ramayan. Prabhas portrays the role of Raghav, while Kriti Sanon essays the character of Janaki, and Saif Ali Khan takes on the character of Lankesh. The film also features Sunny Singh as Shesh and Devdatta Nage as Bajrang, adding depth to the ensemble cast.
Following the release of the film, the “Adipurush” team decided to revise certain dialogues after receiving backlash for the colloquial language used in Hanuman’s dialogues, which offended the audience. In a statement issued by T-Series, it was confirmed that the makers are revisiting the dialogues to ensure they align with the essence of the film. The revised dialogues, intended to respect audience sentiments and promote harmony, will be reflected in the theatrical release in the coming days.
