HYDERABAD: Deputy Chief Minister Bhatti Vikramarka Mallu said the state government is prepared to supply enough electricity to meet summer demand.
On Tuesday, he met with SPDCL officials at the B R Ambedkar Secretariat to discuss the action plan for the summer electricity supply. Vikramarka reviewed the power demand from last summer, the expected demand for this summer, and how to meet that demand.
He instructed officials to ensure an uninterrupted power supply during the summer months, as all requested facilities have been provided. Vikramarka emphasized that power supply is a critical issue, and officials should stay alert around the clock.
Electricity department officers must hold meetings to assess their readiness for potential field problems and create awareness among consumers. Every staff member in the Energy Department, from linemen to ministers, should work together as a team. Any field issues should be reported immediately to a superior officer, and if there is no response, it should be escalated further. He encouraged staff to contact him if necessary.
He mentioned that the government is ready to provide all required field facilities, and officials could request anything. He also noted that the quick response services in Hyderabad should be extended to rural areas.
Vikramarka instructed officials to complete the construction of all substations and related projects by March 1. He reviewed the increasing load on substations over the past three years and directed officials to incentivise electricity department staff who deliver good service.
He recognized the hard work of staff during recent floods to restore power and stated that such individuals should be rewarded. He urged officials to increase staff awareness of energy sector changes and provide education on alternative power generation.
Emergency phone number 1912 should be widely promoted for reporting power supply issues. Every consumer should receive an SMS about this number, which should also appear on their electricity bills.
The government is ready to allocate funds to strengthen the department with more staff and technical support. The Deputy CM, also the Energy Minister, discussed equipment availability with CEOs from different departments and reviewed measures to address complaints from the previous year. Energy Department Principal Secretary Sundeep Kumar Sultania, Transco CMD Krishna Bhaskar, SPDCL CMD Musharaff Ali, Energy Department OSD Surender Reddy, and others were present.
