Nitesh Tiwari, the acclaimed director behind “Dangal,” is set to bring the Indian epic “Ramayana” to the big screen, and the casting choices are making waves in the entertainment industry. The latest development reveals that the versatile actor Vijay Sethupathi is in discussions for the pivotal role of Vibhishan, Ravana’s brother, in this highly anticipated mythological extravaganza.
Sources close to the project shared that after a comprehensive script narration and a visual presentation of the world Nitesh Tiwari envisions for “Ramayana,” Vijay Sethupathi was thoroughly impressed. The actor expressed keen interest in being part of this grand spectacle, adding another layer of excitement to an already star-studded cast.
The roadmap for “Ramayana” is nothing short of ambitious. Yash, who is set to portray the formidable Ravana, is scheduled to join the sets in June/July 2024. The production team aims to complete its part of the first segment of the epic in just 15 days. The pre-visualization work, skillfully executed by the renowned DNEG, is already in progress. However, what sets this project apart is the commitment to perfection, with a dedicated team of top-notch VFX artists exclusively working on “Ramayana” for an impressive 500 days, starting in July.
Ranbir Kapoor, cast as Lord Ram, is poised to kickstart the shooting for “Ramayana” in March 2024. While rumours circulated about Bobby Deol being approached for the role of Kumbhakarna, recent reports from the entertainment portal suggest that the actor is not part of the mythological drama.
Arun Govil, the iconic actor from the original “Ramayan” television series, is set to play Dashrath, adding a touch of nostalgia for the audience. Gurfateh Pirzada is also on board, portraying the character of Lakshman in this magnum opus.
The vision for “Ramayana” goes beyond being just an Indian film; it aspires to be a global project that leaves a lasting legacy for Indian Cinema. The release is scheduled for mid-2025, promising a cinematic experience that transcends borders and captivates audiences worldwide. Stay tuned for more updates on this epic journey helmed by Nitesh Tiwari, as the team endeavours to create a masterpiece that will stand the test of time.
