Based on a complaint filed by advocate Rama Rao Immaneni at the Telangana High Court, the National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) has directed the Telangana Commissioner of Police (CP) to submit a detailed action taken report (ATR) regarding the stampede incident at Sandhya Theatre during the screening of Pushpa 2: The Rule. The incident, which resulted in the death of a woman and the hospitalization of her young son, has prompted the NHRC to give the CP a deadline of four weeks to respond, as reported by HashtagU.

NHRC Steps In to Address Pushpa 2 Stampede Incident

In response to a complaint, the National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) intervened in the Pushpa 2 stampede case on Wednesday. The Commission stated, “A copy of the complaint should be forwarded to the Commissioner of Police, Hyderabad, for a thorough inquiry into the allegations by a senior-ranking police officer. Necessary actions must be taken, and a detailed action taken report should be submitted to the Commission within four weeks.”

The complaint filed by Rama Rao alleges that the death of Revathi and the injuries sustained by her son, Sri Tej, were caused by a police lathi charge on December 4 and the lack of proper arrangements for Allu Arjun’s arrival. The complaint specifically calls for the NHRC to intervene and take action against the responsible police officials.

With the positions of Chairman and Members vacant in the Telangana State Human Rights Commission, Hyderabad, the NHRC has directed the Hyderabad Commissioner of Police (CP) and the Telangana Director General of Police (DGP) to investigate the matter and submit a detailed report.

Telangana HC Grants Relief to Pushpa 2 Producers:

The Telangana High Court has granted relief to Pushpa 2: The Rule producers Yalamanchili Ravi Shankar and Yerneni Naveen of Mythri Movie Makers, barring the police from arresting them. The producers sought relief from the court, and Justice K. Sujana issued the order after hearing the case.

While the prosecution argued that the overcrowding and chaos during the event led to the tragic death, the defense counsel contended that the producers should not be held responsible. They argued that the producers had taken all reasonable precautions, including informing the authorities, ahead of the premiere event.

The incident occurred on December 4 at Sandhya Theatre in Hyderabad, when a stampede-like situation broke out following Allu Arjun’s visit, resulting in the death of a woman and the hospitalization of a young boy. Allu Arjun was arrested in connection with the case on December 13 but was granted interim bail the following day. The police also arrested the theatre management and security personnel, accusing them of negligence and of failing to obtain the necessary permissions for the visit.
