The highly anticipated film, “Hi Nanna,” starring Nani alongside Mrunal Thakur, has encountered controversy ahead of its release on December 7. During the pre-release event held in Vizag on November 29, an inadvertent and erroneous display of personal photos of actors Vijay Deverakonda and Rashmika Mandanna stirred up significant backlash from audiences, sparking a flurry of controversy.
Addressing the issue in a recent interview with M9 News, Nani, the lead actor of “Hi Nanna,” expressed regret and extended his heartfelt apologies for the unintended debacle that occurred during a specific segment of the event. He stated, “In a pre-release event, various individuals are involved, and it’s possible that someone, in their excitement, mistakenly showcased these pictures. Both Vijay and Rashmika hold a close place in my life, and I firmly believe that they wouldn’t have been perturbed by this incident. Nevertheless, I offer my sincere apologies.”
The incident swiftly gained traction on social media platforms as clips circulated widely, drawing swift reactions from fans of Vijay Deverakonda and Rashmika Mandanna. Fans voiced their discontent, denouncing the incident as a cheap promotional ploy, and directed criticism towards the event’s anchor, Suma. Her attempt at humour regarding the incident also faced backlash from fans.
Furthermore, fans questioned the rationale behind the inclusion of personal photographs of their beloved stars in an event unrelated to them, targeting the filmmakers for the decision.
“Hi Nanna” is poised as a romantic drama delving into the intricacies of a father-daughter relationship. The film boasts an ensemble cast featuring Jayaram, Meera Jasmine, and Angad Bedi, alongside Nani and Mrunal Thakur, with a cameo appearance by Shruti Haasan.
Following its November trailer release, the film garnered positive acclaim from both fans and critics alike. Produced by Mohan Cherukuri and Dr. Vijender Reddy Teegala under the banner of Vyra Entertainments, the film showcases cinematography by Sanu John Varghese, while the music is composed by Hesham Abdul Wahab.
As “Hi Nanna” inches closer to its release date, the inadvertent incident at the pre-release event has brought unexpected attention, leading to a wave of responses from fans and industry enthusiasts, urging for sensitivity and cautiousness in promotional endeavours related to stars’ personal lives.
