Tollywood star Naga Chaitanya is gearing up to make a significant impact on the Indian Racing League (IRL) as the owner of the Hyderabad Blackbirds for the 2024 season. Known for his fervent enthusiasm for Formula 1 and his impressive collection of supercars and motorcycles, Chaitanya is set to infuse the league with a unique mix of celebrity charm and motorsport knowledge. “Leading the Blackbirds is a dream come true,” Chaitanya said. “I’m eager to inspire the next generation of Indian racing talent.”
The Hyderabad Blackbirds are one of six city-based teams competing for the IRL championship. As the world’s first gender-neutral, franchise-based racing league, the IRL provides a premier platform for talented drivers from India and beyond to showcase their abilities.
Chaitanya joins a star-studded lineup of celebrity team owners, including actors Arjun Kapoor and John Abraham, as well as cricket icon Sourav Ganguly. Their involvement has significantly increased the league’s appeal and drawn a larger audience. Akhilesh Reddy, Chairman and Managing Director of Racing Promotions Private Limited (RPPL), the organizers of the IRL, praised Chaitanya’s role. “Naga Chaitanya’s leadership will undoubtedly elevate the league to new heights,” Reddy remarked. “His presence adds an exciting dimension and attracts more fans to the sport.”
The IRL 2024 season begins on August 24 at the Madras International Circuit, with the first-ever night street circuit race at the Chennai Formula Racing Circuit scheduled for the following week. The Hyderabad Blackbirds will face off against teams from Bengaluru, Chennai, Delhi, Goa, and Kolkata in the season opener.
In addition to his new venture in motorsports, Naga Chaitanya is also preparing for his upcoming film project, “Thandel.” Directed by Chandoo Mondeti and co-starring the talented Sai Pallavi, “Thandel” has already begun generating buzz with its captivating promotions. Fans are eagerly anticipating Chaitanya’s dynamic presence both on the track and on screen.
