MK Stalin Renames Kamdar Nagar to SP Balasubrahmanyam Road in Tribute

SP Balasubrahmanyam, a beloved figure in the world of music and cinema, needs no introduction. His voice has resonated in countless households and continues to live on in the hearts of many. On the fourth anniversary of his passing, Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin announced a heartfelt tribute: the road where SPB’s house stood will now bear his name. With a career spanning five decades and over 40,000 songs recorded in 16 languages, SPB’s musical legacy is unparalleled. His unique voice captivated audiences globally, earning him widespread acclaim.

In a statement from the CM’s office, it was noted, “SP Balasubrahmanyam sang over 40,000 songs in various languages, touching the hearts of Tamilians for more than half a century with his melodious voice, composing music for numerous films, acting in movies, and showcasing his multi-talented artistry. A recipient of the Padma Shri and Padma Vibhushan awards, and a cherished figure of former Chief Minister M Karunanidhi, SP Balasubrahmanyam passed away on September 25, 2020. Despite the passage of time, his memory remains deeply cherished. To further honor his legacy, Chief Minister MK Stalin has announced that the main road in Nungambakkam Kamdar Nagar, where he resided, will be named ‘S.P. Balasubrahmanyam Salai (Road)’.”

Stalin expressed his personal tribute, stating, “As one of the millions of Balu’s fans, I am delighted and honored to announce that on the anniversary of #SPBalasubrahmanyam, the main road in Kamdar Nagar, where he lived, will be named ‘S.P. Balasubrahmanyam Road’.”
