In a sharp rebuke, KT Rama Rao (KTR), the Working President of Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS), condemned the Congress-led Telangana government for what he describes as a “political witch-hunt.” This statement comes in response to a police raid at the home of his brother-in-law, Raj Pakala, which KTR argues is an attempt to tarnish the image of BRS leaders amid political rivalry.
KTR asserted that the gathering at Pakala’s residence, which took place on the night of October 27, was a simple family celebration following his recent housewarming. He dismissed claims from the Congress that it was a “rave party,” pointing out that the event included individuals of all ages, from toddlers to the elderly.
Reacting to the subsequent police investigation, KTR emphasized that while no illegal substances were discovered, charges were nonetheless filed under the NDPS Act after one attendee tested positive for drugs. He criticized the police for not determining the source of that individual’s drug use, reaffirming that his brother-in-law was not involved in any cocaine-related activities.
KTR accused the Revanth Reddy government of using intimidation tactics against BRS leaders and their families in a bid to stifle dissent. He vowed to persist in exposing the government’s failures and corruption, particularly regarding unfulfilled promises to the public and scandals involving the Chief Minister’s family.
“We will not be deterred by these underhanded tactics,” KTR stated, asserting that BRS, which has its roots in a significant movement, will continue its fight against political oppression and injustice.
