Geeta Sanon, the mother of Bollywood star Kriti Sanon, has come forward to defend the film Adipurush amidst the ongoing backlash surrounding its colloquial dialogues and alleged distortion of the Hindu epic Ramayana and its characters. Geeta Sanon took to her Instagram account to share a cryptic post, emphasizing the need to look beyond a person’s mistakes and understand their emotions. Meanwhile, the makers of Adipurush have responded to the criticism by altering the controversial lines in the film, addressing some of the concerns raised by netizens.

Geeta Sanon’s Instagram post featured a verse and her interpretation of its meaning. She captioned the post with “Jai Shree Ram” (Glory to Sita and Ram), indicating her connection to the Ramayana. The verse highlighted the importance of adopting a positive mindset and looking beyond the faults of others to see the beauty in the world. Geeta Sanon referred to Lord Ram’s teachings, using the example of Shabari offering half-eaten berries to emphasize the importance of focusing on love rather than judging mistakes. She encouraged understanding people’s emotions rather than dwelling on their errors.

Netizens responded to Geeta Sanon’s post, expressing their disagreement with using such messages to defend the perceived mistakes in Adipurush. Some users commented that accepting both positive and negative feedback is essential, and merely focusing on the positive aspects of a film does not justify any perceived insults to history or religious sentiments. They urged the film’s team to acknowledge and address the concerns raised by the majority of the audience.

In response to the controversy, the makers of Adipurush have taken steps to address the feedback received from viewers. Several dialogues from the film have been altered to address the criticism. Notably, the line “Tel tere baap ka. Aag bhi tere baap ki. Aur jalegi bhi tere baap ki” (The oil belongs to your father. The fire belongs to your father. And it will burn, too, for your father) spoken by Bajrangbali’s character to Meghnad during the Lanka Dahan scene has been changed. The word ‘baap’ (father) has been replaced with ‘Lanka’.

The controversy surrounding Adipurush has been ongoing since its release, with criticism centred on visual effects, dialogues, and costumes. The alterations made by the film’s makers demonstrate their willingness to listen to audience feedback and address concerns. As the discussion continues, it remains to be seen how these modifications will be received by the public.
