Everyone’s favourite Kajol has been gearing up for her show The Trial. She recently talked about how her films changed the way people perceived Karwa Chauth. The actress said that Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge and Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham are a few films, which set the trend of dressing up and celebrating the festival.

For the unversed, Karwa Chauth is an Indian Punjabi ritual where women fast for the long life of their husbands and break the fast only when after moon rise.  In a recent interview, Kajol recalled the Karwa Chauth scene in Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge, and how it set some trends.

In the interview with Humans of Bombay, Kajol revealed that many have told her that these films have ruined the festival for them. She said, “Karwa Chauth in K3G and DDLJ has spoilt Karwa Chauth for all men and women. Now they have to wear good clothes. Earlier, it was just a simple ceremony. Suddenly Karwa Chauth became this big function, a fashion deal where everyone has to get dressed. Women have to wear jewellery, poori dukaan ban kar baith jaao bas (like a Christmas tree they have to get dressed). Bhookh bhi chalegi (its okay even if we stay hungry) as long as you are looking good while you are starving,”

Talking about her current work commitments, Kajol is gearing up for her web series debut with The Trial – Pyaar, Kanoon, Dhoka.
