Recently, the Raidurgam police in Hyderabad took action by filing a zero First Information Report (FIR) against choreographer Shaik Jani Basha, better known as Jani Master, following accusations of sexual assault by a 21-year-old woman. According to a report from HashtagU, the complainant, who has collaborated closely with Jani Master for several months, alleges multiple incidents of sexual assault during professional engagements in cities like Chennai, Mumbai, and Hyderabad. She claims these incidents also occurred at her residence in Narsingi, a Hyderabad suburb.
The case has been transferred to the Narsingi police due to the complainant residing in that jurisdiction. Serious charges under Section 376 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC), concerning rape, as well as sections 506 (criminal intimidation) and 323 (voluntarily causing hurt), have been included in the FIR against Jani Master. A senior police official confirmed the filing and emphasized that the Narsingi police will conduct a thorough investigation.
In response to these allegations, Shikha Goel, Director General of the Women Safety Wing (WSW) Telangana, has advised the film industry to initiate internal inquiries under the Prevention of Sexual Harassment (PoSH) Act and to cooperate fully with law enforcement for a comprehensive investigation.
Earlier in June, another complaint was filed against Jani Master by a dancer named Satish, alleging harassment and claiming obstruction of professional opportunities on film shoots. Jani Master denied these allegations during a press conference.
Notably, Jani Master has a prior legal history: in 2019, a local court in Medchal, Hyderabad, sentenced him to six months in jail for a brawl that occurred in 2015. Despite this, he remains active on social media, sharing updates and photos with prominent figures like Ram Charan, Pawan Kalyan, and Rajkummar Rao. Jani Master continues his work as a choreographer, known for popular tracks such as “Rowdy Baby” (Maari 2), “Butta Bomma” (Ala Vaikunthapurramuloo), “Arabic Kuthu,” and “Jolly O Gymkhana” (Beast).
