Anjali Menon’s directorial gem, “Bangalore Days,” cherished by cinephiles, unfolds the tale of three cousins embarking on a transformative journey in Bangalore. Recently, the filmmaker shared intriguing insights into the film’s climactic dirt bike race, a pivotal moment in the story.
In a candid revelation to IMDb, Menon disclosed the resourceful approach employed for the film’s climactic dirt bike race sequence. Due to budget constraints, the team opted to film a real Supercross race in Pune, imparting an authentic touch to the cinematic experience.
Anjali Menon elaborated on the hurdles faced during filming. National Champion Aravind KP, portraying Dulquer Salmaan’s character, was scheduled for two races that day. Despite losing the initial race, he triumphed in the subsequent one. However, the director revealed a twist; her cinematographer, Sameer Thahir, overzealous in capturing the action, trespassed onto the tracks and was consequently asked to leave. The remaining team members took charge of filming, capturing both the victory and the earlier defeat.
Menon lauded the art direction team’s craftsmanship in recreating racing outfits, utilized for shots leading up to the climax sequence. The meticulous work and collaborative effort ensured the seamless shot integration for the film’s continuity and cinematic flair.
Anjali Menon’s second directorial venture boasted an ensemble cast, featuring Dulquer Salmaan, Fahadh Faasil, Nivin Pauly, Nazriya Nazim, Parvathy Thiruvothu, Isha Talwar, Nithya Menen, among others. Produced by Anwar Rasheed and Sophia Paul, the film’s music by Gopi Sundar and cinematography by Sameer Thahir added depth and visual richness to the storytelling.
Praveen Prabhakar, renowned for his work on films like “Kannur Squad” and “Trance,” skillfully edited the cinematic journey of “Bangalore Days,” capturing the essence and emotions that resonate with audiences even today.
