The omission of acclaimed director SS Rajamouli‘s name from the list of invitees to join The Academy has left fans disappointed. While several prominent members of the film fraternity, including actors Ram Charan, Jr NTR, director Mani Ratnam, producer Karan Johar, Siddharth Roy Kapur, lyricist Chandrabose, and composer MM Keeravani, received invitations, Rajamouli was noticeably left out. Even the art director Sabu Cyril and cinematographer K.K. Senthil Kumar from the film ‘RRR’ were included, adding to the disappointment.
However, displaying grace and magnanimity, director SS Rajamouli took to Twitter to congratulate his fellow ‘RRR’ team members and other invitees for being recognized by The Academy. He wrote, “Extremely proud that 6 members of our RRR team have been invited as members for The Academy Awards this year. Congratulations Tarak, Charan, Peddanna, Sabu sir, Senthil & Chandrabose garu. Also, congrats to the members from Indian Cinema who received the invitation this year.”

Fans expressed their disappointment, with one user stating, “I expected you at the top of the list, Sir, then the Oscar winners of course because I’m hearing the songs and watching your movie every day since you won the Oscar. Then of course I’m happy for all the other invitees because I’m a big fan.” Another fan shared, “Disappointed that you were not on the list. Otherwise, happy that the RRR team is there.”
Despite the omission, the year 2023 has proven to be remarkable for the ‘RRR’ team. Their song ‘Naatu Naatu’ created history by winning the Best Original Song award at the Oscars 2023. Before this achievement, the song had already gained recognition on the global stage. In January, it clinched the Golden Globe Award for Best Original Song. Just five days later, ‘RRR’ received two awards at the 28th edition of the Critics Choice Awards, with one for Best Song and another for Best Foreign Language Film.
While fans express their disappointment over SS Rajamouli’s exclusion from The Academy invites, they continue to celebrate the success and recognition garnered by the ‘RRR’ team. As the film industry recognizes and appreciates their talents, the impact of their work on a global scale remains undeniable.
