Documentary “Oscar Challagariga” on Oscar winner Indian lyricist Chandrabose shortlisted in Cannes World Film Festival nominations

A documentary titled “Oscar Challagariga” produced and directed by Chilkuri Sushil Rao from Hyderabad has been selected as a nominee by the Cannes World Film Festival, France. The announcement was made on December 22, 2023.
The documentary is about Telugu lyricist Kanukuntla Subhash Chandrabose who won the Oscar award for Best Original Song in the Oscar awards presented by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences in Hollywood, Los Angeles in the US on March 12, 2023.
When Subhash Chandrabose visited his village, Challagariga in Chityal Mandal in Jayashankar Bhupalpalli district in Telangana in April 2023, with the Oscar and several other awards international awards that he got, the entire village got together and celebrated his achievement..
His childhood friends, school and college friends, family, relatives, and all the villagers felicitated Subhash Chandrabose for his achievement.
Chandrabose and music director M M Keeravani won the Oscar award for the song “Naatu Naatu’ from the film “RRR” directed by S S Rajamouli.
The documentary “Oscar Challagariga” captures the celebratory and festive mood in the village when Chandrabose was accorded a befitting welcome with music and dance.
Chandrabose has always mentioned that the lyrics of the song had their roots in his native village Challagariga.
After its ‘’Official Selection’ at the Cannes World Film Festival, the documentary “Oscar Challagariga” moved into the semi-finals stage subsequently.
Subsequent to another round of the selection process, it became a finalist. In the latest development on December 22, 2023, it has made it to the nominees list. The winners will be picked from this list.
Films from across the world, including the US, China, India, Chile, Germany, Costa Rica, Canada, Bulgaria, Colombia, Brazil, France, Cuba, Australia, Greece, Guinea-Bissau, Nepal, Sweden, Malaysia, Australia, Iran Switzerland, Spain, Malta, UK, and Belgium have made it to the nominees list.
