Director Shankar’s highly anticipated film “Indian 2” has been a project eagerly awaited by fans, headlined by the iconic Kamal Haasan. The film’s shooting, which faced a two-year delay due to various reasons, is now progressing rapidly. However, the team had to face the unfortunate loss of two crucial actors from their star cast, Vivek and Nedumudi Venu, in 2021, due to cardiac arrest and COVID-19 complications, respectively. Despite the setbacks, Shankar has expressed his wish to honour their contributions to Indian cinema by featuring both late actors in the film.

To pay tribute to Vivek’s remarkable comic timing and social activism and Nedumudi Venu’s versatile performances in Malayalam, Tamil, and Hindi cinema, Shankar reportedly utilized CGI (Computer Generated Imagery) and body doubles to bring them back on-screen for their remaining portions in “Indian 2.”

The film serves as the sequel to the 1996 blockbuster “Indian,” also starring Kamal Haasan, and boasts an impressive ensemble cast, including Kajal Aggarwal, Priya Bhavani Shankar, Rakul Preet Singh, Bobby Simha, Siddharth, and Samuthirakani. Produced by Udhayanidhi Stalin’s Red Giant Movies in association with Lyca Productions, “Indian 2” promises to be an enthralling cinematic experience.

During the promotion of his film “Maamannan,” Udhayanidhi Stalin hinted at the possibility of a third part in the “Indian” franchise. He revealed that “Indian 2” has shaped up well, with Kamal Haasan and Shankar pleased with the outcome. Stalin further mentioned that Shankar has unused footage from the second part, leaving the door open for a potential third instalment if deemed necessary.

The film’s music, composed by the talented Anirudh Ravichander, is highly anticipated by fans. As the shooting of “Indian 2” nears completion, the team aims to release the film in cinemas in April 2024. However, the production faced its fair share of challenges, including an accident on the sets that claimed the lives of a few crew members, and later, delays due to global lockdowns amidst the COVID-19 pandemic.

The return of Kamal Haasan as the iconic Senapathy in “Indian 2” and the heartfelt tribute to late actors Vivek and Nedumudi Venu through CGI is expected to resonate strongly with audiences. Fans eagerly await the film’s release and the possibility of a thrilling third part in this iconic franchise.
