Director Mari Selvaraj, known for his impactful socially conscious films, recently shared insights during the pre-release event of Dhanush’s upcoming movie “Captain Miller.” The director expressed apprehensions about his forthcoming project with the renowned actor, shedding light on the nature of their collaboration and its anticipated impact.
Intriguingly, the impending film, marking their second collaboration post “Karnan,” evoked mixed emotions in Selvaraj after witnessing Dhanush’s portrayal in “Captain Miller.” The director admitted feeling apprehensive, attributing his sentiment to the actor’s striking appearance and performance in the current venture. Highlighting Dhanush’s request for a larger-scale film than “Karnan,” Selvaraj hinted at the monumental significance of their upcoming collaboration, labelling it as a pivotal milestone akin to impactful films like “Kaithi” and “Vikram.”
“Captain Miller,” a maiden collaboration between Dhanush and director Arun Matheswaran, boasts an ensemble cast including Shiva Rajkumar, Sundeep Kishan, Priyanka Mohan, and Vinoth Kishan, among others. The narrative revolves around Dhanush’s titular character, a rebel leader navigating challenging circumstances. Director Arun Matheswaran revealed plans for the film to kickstart a three-part franchise, with the first instalment scheduled for release on January 12th.
The movie’s musical score is crafted by GV Prakash Kumar, backed by Sathya Jyothi Films. Siddharth Nuni and Nagooran Ramachandran helm the cinematography and editing departments, respectively.
Following “Captain Miller,” Dhanush gears up for his milestone 50th film, tentatively titled “D50.” Notably, he also helms the director’s seat for this project, featuring a stellar ensemble including SJ Suryah, Kalidas Jayaram, Aparna Balamurali, and Selvaraghavan.
Additionally, Dhanush embarks on his third directorial venture, “Nilavuku Enmel Ennadi Kobam,” starring Mathew Thomas, Priya P Varrier, Anikha Surendran, and R Sarathkumar in pivotal roles.
Meanwhile, Mari Selvaraj enters the post-production phase of his forthcoming film “Vaazhai,” starring Nikhila Vimal, Dhivya Duraisamy, Priyanka Nair, Kalaiyarasan, and more in significant roles.
