Director Apoorva Lakhia recently shared insights about his bond with actor Ram Charan, stating that their friendship remains unaffected despite the box-office failure of their collaboration, ‘Zanjeer.’ Lakhia revealed that while Ram Charan doesn’t pick up his calls, the actor’s wife, Upasana, responds to his messages. Reflecting on their association, Lakhia expressed his admiration for Ram Charan as a good friend and emphasized that the disappointing performance of ‘Zanjeer’ did not impact their relationship.

Speaking about their communication, Lakhia said, “Ram Charan is a really good friend of mine. Even though ‘Zanjeer’ did not perform well at the box office, I visited him at his house in Hyderabad and stayed with him many times. But now, he doesn’t pick up my phone calls. I don’t know if he has changed his phone or not… His wife replies, but not him.”

When asked about any recent interaction during the filming of ‘RRR,’ Lakhia shared an incident, saying, “He called me from Ukraine and asked what I was up to. I told him I was not doing anything major. He said, ‘I need to shoot two to three action sequences of the second unit, can you come and do it?’ I said, ‘Yeah, I’ll get back to you.’ Then he called again and asked, ‘Can you?’ I was shooting something or working on something, so I couldn’t go. That was the last time I think I spoke to him, and he calls me randomly, but he doesn’t answer my calls.”

‘Zanjeer’ was a bilingual film simultaneously shot in Hindi and Telugu, with the Telugu version titled ‘Thoofan.’ It served as a remake of the 1973 Hindi film of the same name and featured Sanjay Dutt, Srihari, Prakash Raj, Atul Kulkarni, and Mahie Gill in prominent roles. The movie received mixed to negative reviews from critics.

Currently, Ram Charan is engrossed in the shooting of his upcoming film, ‘Game Changer,’ directed by Shankar. The film stars Kiara Advani as the female lead, with S Thaman composing the music. The script for ‘Game Changer’ is penned by Karthik Subbaraj.

Despite the lack of recent communication, the bond between Ram Charan and Apoorva Lakhia remains strong, and fans eagerly await the actor’s future projects, including ‘Game Changer.’
