After a six-year hiatus, Jr NTR, known as Tollywood’s ‘Young Tiger,’ made a grand return to the silver screen with the action drama Devara, directed by Koratala Siva. Released on September 27, the film generated immense pre-release buzz, record-breaking advance bookings, and soaring expectations globally.
Featuring Janhvi Kapoor and Saif Ali Khan in their Tollywood debuts, Devara achieved remarkable pre-sales figures and was met with enthusiastic audiences in theaters. While the film has sparked mixed reviews, it also showcases standout moments that truly shine on the big screen.
Jr NTR’s film opened to extraordinary numbers, as expected, breaking records in advance ticket sales both in India and the northern USA. Devara: Part 1 was released in five languages, with Hindi bookings gaining momentum towards the end of its first day. According to data from Sacnilk, Jr NTR’s film earned approximately Rs 77 Crore on its opening day across all languages in India. In the Nizam region alone, it grossed Rs 22.55 Crore.
The film features Jr NTR in a dual role as Deva and Vara. Bollywood stars Saif Ali Khan and Janhvi Kapoor are making their Telugu debuts under the direction of Koratala Siva, with Saif portraying the character Bhaira. The cast also includes veteran actors Prakash Raj, Srikanth Meka, Shruti Marate, Shine Tom Chacko, Murali Sharma, Narain, Kalaiyarasan, Chaithra Rai, and Abhimanyu Singh.
The film was produced by Sudhakar Mikkilineni and Kosaraju Harikrishna under the Yuvasudha Arts and NTR Arts banners. R Rathnavelu served as the cinematographer, while A Sreekar Prasad handled the editing. Anirudh Ravichander composed the electrifying music and background score for Jr NTR for the first time in Devara.
