Counting is underway at the Nalgonda centre for the Warangal-Nalgonda-Khammam teachers’ MLC constituency elections. The vote counting for Telangana’s Legislative Council elections for two graduate and one teachers’ constituencies began on Monday.
Elections were held on February 27 for the Medak-Nizamabad-Adilabad-Karimnagar graduate constituency, the Medak-Nizamabad-Adilabad-Karimnagar teachers’ constituency, and the Warangal-Khammam-Nalgonda teachers’ constituency. The elections were conducted via ballot paper, and the counting process is expected to take one or two days before the results are announced.
The Medak-Nizamabad-Adilabad-Karimnagar graduate constituency recorded a voter turnout of 70.4%, while the Medak-Nizamabad-Adilabad-Karimnagar teachers’ constituency had a turnout of 91.9%, and the Warangal-Khammam-Nalgonda teachers’ constituency saw a 93.55% turnout.
A total of 56 candidates are contesting in the Medak-Nizamabad-Adilabad-Karimnagar graduate constituency. Following Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS)’s decision to stay out of the race, the contest is primarily between the ruling Congress party and the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). A total of 3,55,159 graduates were eligible to vote in this constituency.
Elections for the teachers’ constituencies are non-party based, with 15 candidates contesting in the Medak-Nizamabad-Adilabad-Karimnagar teachers’ constituency and 19 candidates in the Warangal-Khammam-Nalgonda teachers’ constituency. The Medak-Nizamabad-Adilabad-Karimnagar teachers’ constituency has 27,088 voters, while the Warangal-Khammam-Nalgonda teachers’ constituency has 25,759 voters.
