Telugu cinema’s beloved veteran, Chiranjeevi, has been keeping busy with his upcoming film projects. On the occasion of his 68th birthday, celebrated on August 22, the iconic actor made a significant announcement regarding his 156th and 157th films. While the 156th film is set to be produced by his daughter, Sushmita Konidela, under the banner of Gold Box Entertainments, the 157th film is creating quite a buzz as it’s rumoured to be directed by Mallidi Vasishta.
Mallidi Vasishta, who made his directorial debut with the socio-fantasy film “Bimbisara” in 2022, is now gearing up for his next directorial venture. According to reports, the makers have revealed the release date for this highly anticipated film.
Tentatively titled “Mega157,” the movie is poised to be a fantasy entertainer that promises to cast Chiranjeevi’s spell on the big screen once again. Fans can expect to witness the magic unfold on the silver screen as the film is scheduled to be ready by 2025, with a grand release planned on Makar Sankranti in the same year.
As of now, the film is in its pre-production phase, with shooting slated to commence in the first week of November and continue until the last week of April. Following the completion of the shoot, the film will enter an extensive post-production phase, which includes intricate VFX work and is expected to span six months.
The star cast of “Mega157” has sparked considerable speculation. Rumours abound that the talented Anushka Shetty has been roped in for a pivotal role, and discussions are reportedly ongoing with the legendary Aishwarya Rai to join the cast opposite Chiranjeevi. Given that the film is set to feature three actresses, there’s also anticipation that the accomplished actress Mrunal Thakur, known for her role in “Sita Ramam,” may join the ensemble. However, official announcements regarding the star cast are still pending.
With UV Creations producing the film and the acclaimed MM Keeravani composing the music, expectations are running high among audiences. A statement from the production house expressed the excitement surrounding Chiranjeevi’s return to the fantasy genre, reminiscent of his iconic film “Jagadeka Veerudu Athiloka Sundari.” The film’s announcement poster unveiled a few weeks ago, featured the representation of the five elements of nature: earth, water, fire, air, and sky, adding to the intrigue and anticipation surrounding this fantasy extravaganza.
