BJP leader Lal Krishna Advani, aged 97, was admitted to Apollo Hospital in Delhi late last night after his health worsened. Mr. Advani, who celebrated his 97th birthday last month, has been dealing with recurring health issues in recent months.
This hospitalization marks his fourth since July. Previously, he has been treated at both Apollo Hospital and the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) in Delhi.
Born on November 8, 1927, in Karachi, Lal Krishna Advani joined the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) in 1942. Over the decades, he emerged as one of the principal architects of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and became its longest-serving National President. Advani also played pivotal roles in the Atal Bihari Vajpayee-led NDA government, serving as the Home Minister and later as the Deputy Prime Minister between 1999 and 2004.
In March of this year, Mr. Advani was conferred the Bharat Ratna, India’s highest civilian honor, by President Droupadi Murmu.
