Kannada actor Darshan Thoogudeepa and his alleged partner, Pavithra Gowda, were denied bail in the Renukaswamy murder case. A total of six individuals, including Darshan and Pavithra, appeared in court, with two of the accused granted bail.
According to an HashtagU report, a sessions court in Bengaluru denied bail to the actors, as well as to co-accused Nagaraj and Lakshman. However, accused Ravishankar and Deepak were granted bail in the same case.
The bail hearing had previously taken place, where the defense argued that the eyewitnesses were manipulated by the police. Despite these arguments, the court ruled against granting bail to Darshan and Pavithra, who are expected to appeal to the High Court.
For context, Darshan Thoogudeepa and actress Pavithra Gowda are currently imprisoned after being accused of murdering Renukaswamy, a 33-year-old devoted fan of Darshan. It is alleged that they killed him for sending inappropriate messages to Pavithra.
The police arrested Darshan, Pavithra, and several others, with Darshan being the second accused in the case. Reports suggest that Pavithra incited Darshan to commit the crime.
Renukaswamy’s body was discovered by police in Bengaluru on June 9, 2024. The post-mortem revealed severe injuries, including a missing ear and ruptured testicles, indicating he died from multiple attacks that caused shock and hemorrhage. As the investigation unfolded, Darshan, Pavithra, and 15 others were arrested on June 11, 2024.
