Hyderabad: Amir Ali Khan, Editor of Siasat Daily, prominent Congress leader in Hyderabad, and Member of the Legislative Council, has strongly condemned the Waqf (Amendment) Bill passed by the BJP-led Central Government, describing it as a draconian measure aimed at marginalizing Muslims and usurping their personal laws and property rights. Khan’s sharp critique serves as a wake-up call for the Muslim community and all citizens who value constitutional rights to rise, agitate, and pressure the Modi government to withdraw this divisive legislation. He launched a bike and car rally on Monday from Adilabad to mark the birth anniversary of Dr B.R. Ambedkar.
In a powerful statement, Khan asserted, “The Waqf (Amendment) Bill is a weapon aimed at marginalizing Muslims and stripping them of their personal laws and property rights. This attack on the Constitution by the RSS and BJP is targeted at Muslims today, but it sets a dangerous precedent to target other communities in the future.” He emphasized that the Congress party stands firmly opposed to this legislation, which he believes violates Article 25 of the Constitution—the Right to Freedom of Religion—and undermines the very idea of India.
Khan urged Muslims and concerned citizens across the country to come out on the roads, organize protests, and build public pressure to force the Modi government to rollback this bill. “This is not just an attack on Waqf properties but a deliberate attempt to erode the rights and dignity of an entire community. We cannot remain silent while our constitutional protections are being dismantled,” he said.
Mr. Khan argued that the Waqf (Amendment) Bill, 2025, passed in the Parliament grants excessive powers to the government, undermines the autonomy of Waqf boards, and threatens the religious and cultural rights of Muslims. The bill will lead to snatching the rights of Muslims over their wakf properties and there are chances that not only governments but also influential individuals and companies will snatch these properties from the Muslims because of the provisions now kept after the amendments,
Amir Ali Khan’s call upon the Muslim community and all defenders of India’s secular fabric must unite to pressure the government to rollback the amendment. “This is a moment of crisis and this high time we all stand together to protect our rights, our Constitution, and our unity,” he concluded.
