Akshay Kumar‘s much-awaited film OMG 2, set to release in August, has hit a potential roadblock with the Central Board of Certification (CBFC), according to recent reports. While some claim that the CBFC has put a hold on the film’s release, others suggest that it has been sent to the Revision Committee for a detailed review. This development comes in the wake of the recent controversy surrounding Adipurush and its dialogues.
Sources have informed India Today that the CBFC has taken the step of sending OMG 2 to the revising committee as a preemptive measure. The board wants to avoid a repeat of the backlash faced by Adipurush, which featured controversial dialogues and had to be modified post-release. Dialogue writer Manoj Muntashir even issued an apology in response to the controversy.
Although Akshay Kumar and director Amit Rai have yet to comment on the reports, a source close to the film has stated that there is currently no issue. They mentioned that the censor board process is ongoing. The report also revealed that the CBFC recommended the film be submitted to the Revision Committee after a recent viewing by the board.
OMG 2, the sequel to the 2012 film OMG starring Akshay Kumar and Paresh Rawal, is scheduled to release on August 11. The film will clash with Sunny Deol’s Gadar 2 and Rajinikanth’s Jailer.
The teaser of OMG 2, released earlier this week, confirmed that Akshay Kumar will be portraying the role of Lord Shiva, sporting dreadlocks. Pankaj Tripathi will play a devotee in the film, while Yami Gautam and Arun Govil also feature in prominent roles.
The CBFC’s decision to closely examine OMG 2’s dialogues and scenes reflects the cautionary approach taken after the negative feedback received by Prabhas and Om Raut’s Adipurush. To ensure that the film does not offend religious sentiments or create controversies, the revising committee of the CBFC will review the content of OMG 2.
As the CBFC takes measures to prevent any potential backlash, fans of Akshay Kumar eagerly await the release of OMG 2, hoping that the film will overcome these challenges and reach audiences as planned.
