Akshay Kumar’s OMG 2 and Sunny Deol’s Gadar 2 Set for Box Office Clash in August

August is gearing up to witness an intense battle at the box office as two highly-anticipated sequels, Akshay Kumar‘s “OMG 2” and Sunny Deol‘s “Gadar 2,” are set to release on the same day. Akshay Kumar confirmed the release date of his film, “OMG 2,” as August 11, adding to the excitement surrounding the clash. This clash of sequels arrives amid the news of the delay of Ranbir Kapoor’s “Animal,” which was initially slated for August 11 but has been pushed to December 1.

The clash between “OMG 2” and “Gadar 2” has generated significant buzz, as both films are sequels to blockbuster hits. “Gadar 2” reunites Sunny Deol and Ameesha Patel as Tara Singh and Sakeena after a gap of 22 years, building immense anticipation among fans. On the other hand, “OMG 2” has kept its plot under tight wraps, only revealing that Akshay Kumar will be essaying the role of Lord Shiva. It’s worth noting that Akshay portrayed the role of Lord Krishna in the first instalment. With both films boasting dedicated fan bases, it will be intriguing to see which emerges victorious at the box office.

Interestingly, “Gadar” as a franchise seems to face challenges when it comes to securing a solo release. The first film, released in 2001, had a box office clash with Aamir Khan’s “Lagaan.” Surprisingly, both films fared exceptionally well, with “Gadar” earning a lifetime box office collection of Rs 76.88 crore, according to Bollywood Hungama, while “Lagaan” recorded a worldwide box office collection of Rs 65.97 crore, as reported by Box Office India.

Now, history seems to repeat itself as “Gadar 2” is once again not enjoying a solo weekend, going head-to-head with Akshay Kumar’s “OMG 2.”

While the clash between Sunny Deol and Akshay Kumar at the box office may be uncommon, the two actors have faced off before. According to Bollywood Hungama, Sunny Deol’s popular film “Ghatak,” co-starring Meenakshi Seshadri, was released on the same day as Akshay Kumar’s “Sapoot,” which featured Suniel Shetty, Karishma Kapoor, and Sonali Bendre. Despite the clash, both films reportedly performed well at the box office.

As the release date approaches, fans eagerly anticipate the clash between “OMG 2” and “Gadar 2,” hoping for a memorable showdown between these two highly anticipated sequels. The box office battle between Akshay Kumar and Sunny Deol adds an exciting dimension to the film industry, promising an enthralling cinematic experience for moviegoers. Stay tuned for further updates on these much-awaited films as they gear up to compete for box office supremacy.
