Akhil Akkineni’s Agent Disappoints at the Box Office, Grosses only Rs. 8 Crores Worldwide on Day 1

The much-awaited movie, Agent, starring Akhil Akkineni, was released in theaters worldwide on April 28, 2023. However, the film failed to impress the audience and critics, resulting in disappointing collections at the box office. The worldwide gross numbers for the film on the first day were just about 8 crores, with India’s gross collections at around Rs. 6.50 crores and overseas gross collections at around Rs. 1.50 crores. The film’s day one share is a meagre 4 crores, indicating a tough journey ahead to break even.

Agent’s excessive delays and last-minute withdrawal of the Hindi dubbed version are believed to be the reasons for its lacklustre opening. The film’s prospects further deteriorated with unfavourable reviews, leading to a significant dip in collections on the second day. The poor run of Agent is also benefiting its competing releases, including Virupaksha, which is already performing well among Tollywood audiences worldwide.

The underwhelming response to Agent at the box office is a blow to Akhil Akkineni, who was hoping for a successful run with this film. Despite the actor’s hard work and efforts, the film’s lifetime collections are estimated to end at around Rs. 20 crores worldwide.

If you’re still interested in watching Agent, you can catch it in theaters near you.
