Hyderabad, India – South star Akhil Akkineni, who recently faced criticism for the poor performance of his film “Agent,” has reportedly flown to Dubai for a vacation. The actor’s rumoured getaway came after his latest film failed to impress the audience at the box office. According to Mirchi9, the actor was spotted at the Hyderabad airport on Tuesday before boarding his flight.
“Agent,” directed by Surender Reddy, was expected to be a blockbuster hit of Akhil Akkineni’s career, as he reportedly worked hard on it for two years. However, despite bringing renowned star Mammootty in a pivotal role, the film failed to entertain cine-lovers. As per reports, the film is struggling to touch the Rs 10 crore mark.
The film’s producer, Anil Sunkara, recently acknowledged its failure and claimed that it was “a huge blunder” to begin a project “without a bound script.” He added that “innumerable issues including covid followed.” Sunkara reportedly invested around Rs 80 crore in the film. In a tweet on May 1, he apologized to all those who put their trust in them and promised to make up for the losses in future projects.
Even Amala Akkineni, Akhil’s mother, addressed the criticism and trolling faced by her son following the release of “Agent.” She wrote in an Instagram post that “while (Agent) has its flaws if you watch it with an open mind, you will be amazed.” She urged viewers to watch the film with an open mind, as she enjoyed it herself.
As for Akhil Akkineni, the actor has reportedly gone on a vacation to get his mind off the poor box-office performance of his latest film. Fans speculate that like many celebrities, Akkineni has taken a break to rejuvenate himself before diving into his next project.
