Anticipation is building as Aishwarya Rajinikanth’s upcoming directorial venture, “Lal Salaam,” draws closer to its release date. The film, which features Vishnu Vishal and Vikranth in the lead roles and boasts cameo appearances by none other than Superstar Rajinikanth and cricket legend Kapil Dev, among others, is all set to hit the big screen on the auspicious occasion of Pongal in 2024.

The announcement of the release date was made by the film’s production house, Lyca Productions, via their social media channels. The message was simple yet significant: “LAL SALAAM to hit screens on PONGAL 2024.”

About “Lal Salaam”

“Lal Salaam” is shaping up to be an exciting sports drama, written and directed by Aishwarya Rajinikanth. This project marks Aishwarya Rajinikanth’s fourth directorial venture, following “3” in 2011, which featured Dhanush. She has also worked on “Vai Raja Vai” in 2015 and the documentary film “Cinema Veeran” in 2017. The film was officially announced in November of the previous year through social media channels.

The cast of “Lal Salaam” includes Vishnu Vishal and Vikranth in pivotal roles, with Vishnu Vishal portraying the character of a cricketer. Adding to the star-studded lineup, the legendary Rajinikanth himself will make a cameo appearance in the film. Furthermore, former Indian cricket captain Kapil Dev is set to play himself in a cameo role, adding an extra layer of excitement for fans.

Production for the film commenced in March 2023, with shooting locations spanning Chennai, Mumbai, and Pondicherry. The memorable moment of Rajinikanth and Kapil Dev shooting together in May stirred considerable interest, with the “Jailer” star expressing his privilege to work alongside the cricket icon.

The musical magic of “Lal Salaam” has been composed by none other than the maestro himself, A.R. Rahman. Vishnu Rangasamy is behind the camera as the cinematographer, while Pravin Baskar takes the helm as the film’s editor.

A Pongal release for “Lal Salaam” sets the stage for a clash of titans at the box office. It will go head-to-head with Mahesh Babu’s “Guntur Kaaram,” scheduled for release on January 12, and Ravi Teja’s “Eagle,” hitting the silver screens on January 13.

What’s Next for Rajinikanth

The superstar Rajinikanth continues to be a force to be reckoned with in Indian cinema. In addition to his cameo in “Lal Salaam,” he has exciting projects lined up. In TJ Gnanavel’s upcoming film, tentatively titled “Thalaivar 170,” Rajinikanth is rumoured to be portraying the role of a police officer. The film is being bankrolled by Lyca Productions, with Anirudh Ravichander as the music director.

Furthermore, Rajinikanth is set to grace the screen in “Thalaivar 171,” directed by Lokesh Kanagaraj and produced by Sun Pictures. Anirudh Ravichander is once again taking on the role of music producer, while the dynamic stunt duo, Anbariv, serves as the action director for the film.

As “Lal Salaam” and these exciting projects unfold, Rajinikanth’s fans have plenty to look forward to in the world of Indian cinema. Pongal 2024 is already marked on the calendars of cinephiles, and the anticipation is building for what promises to be an enthralling cinematic experience.
