Adipurush Director Om Raut Defends Lord Ram’s ‘Angry Man’ Depiction in Response to Controversy

The much-discussed film Adipurush, starring Prabhas and Kriti Sanon, has been generating headlines since its release. However, the film has faced criticism, including a recent PIL filed against the makers, alleging that Lord Ram was portrayed as an angry man and that creative liberties were taken. In response to these allegations, director Om Raut has defended the depiction of Lord Ram and addressed the controversy surrounding the film.

Om Raut and Manoj Muntashir’s Explanation:

In an interview, Om Raut supported the portrayal of Lord Ram as an ‘angry man’ and explained the rationale behind it. He stated that since Lord Ram is depicted in the war field and is a king, his character naturally exhibits aggression due to the circumstances he faces. Dialogue writer and lyricist Manoj Muntashir also supported this perspective, clarifying that the notion that Lord Ram never lost his temper is a rumour and can be disproven by studying various versions of Ramayana.

Graphics and Impact:

Om Raut was also questioned about the use of graphics in the film, which has been a point of contention. He shared that his childhood experience of watching Ramanand Sagar’s Ramayana had a profound impact on him, as it utilized modern technology for that time. Inspired by that impact, Raut aimed to create Adipurush to make a lasting impression on future generations.

Film Alterations and Commitment to Audience Sentiments:

In addition to defending the portrayal of Lord Ram, the makers of Adipurush recently announced their decision to make alterations to the film’s dialogues. The statement released by T-Series explained that the team is revisiting the dialogues to ensure they resonate with the core essence of the film and reflect the sentiments of the audience. This move showcases their commitment to addressing concerns despite the film’s success at the box office.
