Adipurush Box Office Collection Witnesses Sharp Drop, Crosses Rs. 300 Crores Worldwide

Prabhas starrer “Adipurush” continues to face a significant decline in box office collections, recording a 30 percent drop and reaching single-digit figures on Wednesday. The film collected Rs. 8.75 crores on its sixth day in India. With this, the total domestic box office collection for “Adipurush” stands at Rs. 262 crores. Moreover, the movie crossed the Rs. 300 crores mark worldwide, accumulating a global box office collection of Rs. 307 crore to date, including Rs. 45 crores ($5.50 million) from overseas markets.

Interestingly, on weekdays, collections in the Telugu states surpassed those in the Hindi belt, which is a rare occurrence for pan-Indian films. On Wednesday, the film earned Rs. 4.50 crores in Telugu states compared to Rs. 3.60 crores in the Hindi belt. This reversal of fortunes can be attributed to the substantial number of bulk bookings for the Hindi version over the weekend, artificially inflating its box office numbers. As a result, without the advantage of those bulk bookings, the Hindi version witnessed a significant decline in collections.

The breakdown of the box office collections for “Adipurush” in India is as follows:

  • Friday: Rs. 86 crores
  • Saturday: Rs. 66.50 crores
  • Sunday: Rs. 68 crores
  • Monday: Rs. 19.50 crores
  • Tuesday: Rs. 13.25 crores
  • Wednesday: Rs. 8.75 crores

Total: Rs. 262 crores

With an estimated budget of around Rs. 500 crores, the production costs for “Adipurush” were substantial. Despite this, the film is expected to offset potential losses through non-theatrical recoveries and a significant non-refundable advance (NRA) received from Telugu distributors.

However, these recoveries will only redistribute the losses, as the revenue from the Telugu state will cover only half of the NRAs. The projected recoveries for the film amount to approximately Rs. 410-420 crores, indicating potential losses ranging from Rs. 80-90 crores, primarily to be borne by Telugu distributors, subject to renegotiations.

The territorial breakdown of “Adipurush” at the Indian box office is as follows:

  • AP/TS: Rs. 105.70 crores (Rs. 64.50 crores share)
  • Karnataka: Rs. 17.50 crores (Rs. 8.50 crores share)
  • Tamil Nadu/Kerala: Rs. 7.80 crores (Rs. 3.25 crore share)
  • Rest of India: Rs. 131 crores (Rs. 57 crores share)

Total: Rs. 262 crores (Rs. 133.25 crores share)

Movie enthusiasts can watch “Adipurush” in cinemas near them to experience the grandeur of this highly anticipated film.
