Two days after actor Jayam Ravi announced his impending divorce and a day following his reported petition to the Chennai Family Court, his wife, Aarti Ravi, issued a statement on Wednesday. In her note, Aarti expressed that she was “shocked and saddened” by Ravi’s handling of the situation, asserting that she felt blindsided by his announcement.
On Wednesday, Aarti Ravi shared a statement on Instagram and disabled comments. She revealed that Jayam Ravi announced their separation without her prior knowledge or consent. “I am deeply shocked and saddened by the public announcement regarding our marriage, which was made without my knowledge or consent. After 18 years together, I believe such a significant matter should be handled with the grace, respect, and privacy it deserves,” her statement reads.
Aarti also mentioned her attempts to resolve the situation amicably and work on their marriage, which she claims were unsuccessful. “I have sought several opportunities to speak directly with my husband, hoping for an open dialogue that honors our commitment to each other and our family. Unfortunately, that opportunity was not given to me, leaving both my children and me blindsided by this announcement.”
She emphasized that the decision to end the marriage was made solely by Ravi and does not benefit their family. Despite the pain caused, Aarti chose to maintain her dignity and had refrained from commenting publicly until now.
Aarti stated that her reason for speaking out now is to address the false public narrative and the trolling she has faced since the announcement. “It has been difficult to endure the false narrative that has unjustly blamed me and attacked my character. As a mother, my priority is and always will be the well-being of my children. I cannot stand by while this narrative affects them, and I will not allow these unfounded allegations to go unaddressed.”
She concluded by expressing her hope that the full context of their situation will be understood in time. “My focus remains on the well-being of our children and helping them navigate this challenging time with strength and integrity. I trust that, eventually, the full context of our situation will come to light.”
As reported by HashtagU News, Jayam Ravi filed for divorce from his wife, Aarti, at the Chennai Family Court on September 10. He is seeking to annul their marriage, which began in 2009. The case is set for a hearing on October 10.
This filing follows Ravi’s announcement on X (formerly Twitter) the previous day, where he revealed his decision to separate from Aarti after 15 years of marriage. In his statement, Ravi explained, “After considerable thought and discussion, I have made the difficult decision to dissolve my marriage with Aarti. This choice was not made hastily; it arises from personal reasons that I believe are in the best interests of everyone involved.”
Grateful for your love and understanding.
