Nani recently opened up to a media in Mumbai about his views on being dubbed as the “natural star” by his fans and how he has come to embrace the title. The multi-talented artist credits his strong connection with audiences as his defining factor that sets him apart from his peers.
As Nani juggles busy promotional duties for his upcoming pan-India venture “Dasara,” he has already left an indelible mark on Hindi-speaking audiences with his impressive performances in critically acclaimed films like “Eega,” “Jersey,” and “Shyam Singha Roy.” With a fan following that transcends regional boundaries, Nani’s appeal lies in his innate ability to strike a chord with viewers on a deeply relatable level, making him a unique and standout presence in the entertainment industry.
Nani shared that the tag of “natural star” was given by his fans and he has gotten used to it. He likes it because it comes from a space of love and not just something he has put on himself. He believes his USP as an actor is his relatability, where he looks like a person who the audience knows in their life, like a friend or someone in their family, and not someone from another world.
Talking about his upcoming movie “Dasara,” directed by Srikanth Odela, Nani said that his character, Dharani, is a common man who rises up to the occasion. He also shared his love for larger-than-life roles, citing the “Avengers” movies as an example. However, he believes that the larger-than-life moments should happen naturally, and the hero should come from normalcy and rise to the occasion.
Nani hopes that his movie “Dasara” will find audiences across languages, given the rising popularity of Telugu content after the success of “RRR.” He said that the acceptance is already there, and people are watching a lot of Telugu content online. However, the real test would be if they come to theaters to watch the movie.
When asked about venturing into Hindi cinema, Nani said that he is always keen to expand his horizon and has received a few offers from the Hindi film industry. He added that not all his upcoming movies will be a pan-India release and he will keep choosing what excites and connects with him.
“Dasara” also features Keerthy Suresh, Samuthirakani, Sai Kumar and Zarina Wahab. It is produced by Sudhakar Cherukuri via his banner Sri Lakshmi Venkateswara Cinemas.
