Aditi Rao Hydari, a star heroine, is playing the lead role in the periodical drama web series ‘Taj Divided by Blood’, which has been streaming on the OTT channel Zee5 since March 3. Produced by Contillo Pictures and Abhimanyu Singh – Rupa Singh, the show features Dharmendra, Naseeruddin Shah, Rahul Bose, Zarina Wahab, and others in important roles. Ron Scalpel, Ajay Singh, and Vibu Puri directed the show.
In an interview, Aditi shared her experience of working on the show, saying, “When I was offered the role of Anarkali, I wondered if I could do justice to it. But I was glad that the directors trusted me. Even if I had second thoughts, they wouldn’t have agreed. The story of ‘Mughal Ee Azam’ runs in a different direction.”
She also mentioned that the role was not easy and that an actress must be able to present what the director wants to be remembered by people. Aditi found the role of Anarkali challenging as it is a historical character. She admired the fresh portrayal of the character and believed that there is nothing more powerful than love.
Anju Modi designed Aditi’s costumes, keeping in mind that Anarkali is a sensitive and slender girl. Aditi found the jewellery to be light and authentic.
Although Aditi couldn’t work with Dharmendra as his episodes were from another era, she found working with Naseeruddin Shah to be an unforgettable experience. She believes that all great actors are proud, fun, and love what they do, making everyone comfortable on set.
Aditi expressed her desire to act in more Telugu movies as they take only 50-60 days to complete. She sees no difference between movies and OTTs, where everyone works hard. Aditi recently watched ‘RRRR’ and was amazed by the unit’s talent. She believes in telling stories that are close to us rather than looking abroad.
Aditi started her career with Tamil cinema and doesn’t believe in the Bollywood vs. South cinema debate. She thinks that we should be proud to be united in diversity and amazed by our cultures, languages, and diverse talents. Aditi understands Telugu and Tamil well but not Malayalam, and she speaks Hindi and can manage Urdu. Aditi wants to do more projects as an actress and considers it a great opportunity to act in a biopic on Rekhagari.
