The buzz surrounding Upendra’s role in the film sparked discussions online, fueled further by a recently deleted photo suggesting the Kannada actor has landed a substantial part in the movie. While rumors hint at a possible antagonist role, no official confirmation has been made yet.
Upendra, who made his Tamil debut in 2008 with Vishal’s “Sathyam,” is making a comeback to Tamil cinema. The makers of “Coolie” previously teased a glimpse of the film, showcasing the Superstar in a black-and-white sequence infiltrating a smuggling operation with his trademark flair.
Currently in production, “Coolie” features Shruti Haasan and Sathyaraj in pivotal roles alongside Rajinikanth. Upendra was last seen leading in “Kabzaa,” a period action film directed by R Chandru, featuring an ensemble cast including Shiva Rajkumar and Kiccha Sudeepa.
Next up, Upendra directs and stars in “UI,” an action-packed surrealistic venture also starring Reeshma Nanaiah, Murali Sharma, Sunny Leone, and Nidhi Subbaiah. Meanwhile, Rajinikanth gears up for “Vettaiyan,” a cop action film directed by TJ Gnanavel, slated for release on October 10, 2024, featuring Amitabh Bachchan, Fahadh Faasil, and Rana Daggubati.
