It’s not wrong to say that the Kannada-language film Kantara is something that no one saw coming. Though the film was released in a regional language, it has managed to garner love from all parts of the country. Talking about the same, the lead actor and director of the film, Rishab Shetty, opened up about different aspects of it, in a conversation with Bollywood Hungama.

While recalling his visit to Manjunath temple to seek blessings before starting the shoot of Kantara, Shetty said that he went there as a devotee and not as a filmmaker. He asserted, “Ye film sirf film nahi hai. Bharat ke har kone mai aise belief hai. Ye kahani Bharat ke krishi ke uppar hai. Humara jo lifestyle, culture, tradition, everything. Ye mera mann mai that ke ye mai belief karke kiya toh sahi lagega (This film is not just a film. Every corner of India believes in something. This story is about the farmers of India; their lifestyle, culture, tradition, and everything. So I thought If I make the film with a belief, it will hit the right chord).”

Elaborating on making a film on a religious subject, Rishab added, “Mera negative approach hi nahi tha.” He continued and explained that the story of the film focuses on the Daiva and its strength. He mentioned, “Daiva, hum log mantey hai ke nature or manushya ke beech ek bridge jaisa hai.” He also explained that though there is a caste system in our society, in front of god, everyone is “equal”, and that message struck him.
