Rishab Shetty breaks silence on Rashmika Mandanna not giving enough credit to Kirik Party

Rashmika Mandanna is named as the ‘National Crush’ after her successful stint in Pushpa: The Rise which featured her alongside Telugu superstar Allu Arjun. The actress also made her Hindi debut this year and her upcoming release Mission Majnu, features her alongside Sidharth Malhotra. While her fame has been spreading nationwide, it seems that her Kannada fans were irked when she did not give enough credit to her film debut Kirik Party which was directed by Rishab Shetty of Kantara fame.

Readers would be aware that Rishab Shetty is yet another South actor who has gained nationwide acclaim, courtesy Kantara. The actor-filmmaker was recently seen talking about his journey which was obviously incomplete without talking about Kirik Party. The film which featured popular Kannada stars like Rakshit Shetty, Achyuth Kumar, Samyuktha Hegde, among others, was directed by Rishab and was one of the most successful Kannada films.

Addressing the recent reports of how Rashmika Mandanna skipped naming the production house Parmvah Studios (co-owned by Rakshit Shetty), that gave her a film platform, Rishab Shetty opened up about it in an interview with The Bombay Journey for Mashable India, saying, “You don’t mind. Bahut saare artists ko hum log leke aaye, aur humko bahut saare directors aur producers ne opportunity diya hai, toh waisa hi list mein rahenge. Aage kuch nahi bolte (There are many artists like directors, producers, whom we have launched and given them a lot of opportunities too. Just like that they would stay in that list and I can’t say anything anymore).”

Talking about his own process of choosing actors for the film, Rishabh added, added, “Main actors ko script likhne ke baad choose karta hoon, aur mujhe ‘iss’ type ke actress, I don’t like them (I choose actors only after completing the script. And I don’t like ‘this’ kind of actress).”

Rishab Shetty and Rashmika Mandanna allegedly had fallout after the actress forgot to list Kirik Party while addressing her success in films. Furthermore adding fuel to the fire, when Kirik Party marked its sixth anniversary, Rishab didn’t tag Rashmika in a social media post that was dedicated to the film and everyone except Mandanna was tagged in it. While the two actors maintained silence on it, fans were quick to point it out on social media.
