Pooja Hegde Refers to Ala Vaikunthapurramuloo with Allu Arjun as a Tamil Film

Actor Pooja Hegde has been actively promoting her latest project Deva, in which she stars alongside Shahid Kapoor. However, her recent remarks about her 2020 film Ala Vaikunthapurramuloo, featuring Allu Arjun, have sparked confusion and frustration online. Pooja referred to Ala Vaikunthapurramuloo as a Tamil film, rather than a pan-India movie. The film, directed by Trivikram Srinivas, was originally made in Telugu and became a massive box office hit.

Ala Vaikunthapurramuloo is actually a Tamil film; it wasn’t a pan-India film. But, people watched it in Hindi. So, if the work is good, it will find its audience,” she shared in an interview with ANI while promoting Deva.

The comments sparked backlash from fans when the video made its way onto social media. Many criticized the actor for her ignorant remark, accusing her of lacking respect for an industry she had worked in. One user wrote, “Tollywood should boycott such actresses and give more opportunities to our Telugu actresses.” Another comment said, “Even if it was a slip of the tongue, it’s a huge mistake coming from a South Indian actress, especially about her own project!” Some even called her “Urvashi 2.0,” with another user noting, “She’s in full Urvashi Rautela mode.”
